Thomas L. Hardesty, Mayor of Shelbyville
Mayor Thomas L. Hardesty obtained an Associate of Arts Degree in
Law Enforcement from Eastern Kentucky University in 1972. He served
in the Kentucky Air National Guard from 1970-1976. Mayor Hardesty
served Shelbyville as Council member for 23 years. He retired from
Kentucky Utilities Company after 23 years of service. He was elected
Mayor in May of 2002 and took office on January 1, 2003.
During his first year as Mayor he has continued Shelbyville's push
towards economic development, while keeping in mind the desire to
maintain it's small town atmosphere. Shelbyville is one of the fastest
growing cities in Kentucky and part of the reason for that is reflected
in the title of our Shelbyville song - "Good Land, Good Living,
and Good People".
