Thomas L. Hardesty, Mayor of Shelbyville
Mayor Thomas L. Hardesty obtained an Associate of Arts Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1972. He served in the Kentucky Air National Guard for six years. Mayor Hardesty served Shelbyville as Council member for 23 years. He retired from Kentucky Utilities Company after 23 years of service. He was elected Mayor in May of 2002 and took office on January 1, 2003.
During his years as Mayor, he has continued Shelbyville’s push towards economic development, while keeping in mind the desire to maintain it’s small town atmosphere. Shelbyville is one of the fastest growing cities in Kentucky.
