The City of Shelbyville is a 4th class city with a Mayor and Council form of government. The Council meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall in the council chamber located on the lower level. Special called meetings and public hearings are held as needed. The public is encouraged to attend any of these meetings. Council members are elected every two years and the Mayor is elected to a four-year term.
