209 Mary Hayes Smith is Personnel Administrator for the City of Shelbyville. She has been employed in this position since 1994. Mary is instrumental in the advertising of job openings, interviewing prospective employees, and all other aspects of the hiring process for the city. She is involved in making policies and procedures, coordinating the benefit package and obtaining grants for projects that will benefit employees and citizens. This position is also responsible for payroll and worker's compensation. Ms. Smith holds her certification with KPHRA (Kentucky Public Human Resource Association). Mary is also involved in the safety committee, and the group meets monthly to insure that safety measures are being enforced in all departments of the city.
